Overview

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist in Welding Quality Process Engineering to ensure quality requirements are integrated into special processes at the Canoga Park facility. The role emphasizes welding and requires a strong understanding of industry standards and practical experience to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the review of failure investigation activities to identify root causes and implement mitigating activities.
  • Lead audit and inspection preparation and resolve audit findings.
  • Coordinate communication with DCMA on quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership in cause and corrective action activities and quality improvement projects.
  • Ensure quality requirements are embedded into key manufacturing special processes.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans utilizing various quality tools and techniques.
  • Participate in nonconforming material control and the Material Review Board processes.
  • Independently manage quality projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Conduct investigations, studies, and research.
  • Create process and program metrics to evaluate quality health.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines set by management.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with minimum 2 years of experience, or minimum 8 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D17.1 or equivalent.
  • Experience with quality engineering and mission assurance principles.
  • Knowledge of failure investigation, root cause, and corrective action processes.
  • Familiarity with nonconformance reporting and the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  • Understanding of qualification processes and testing.
  • Experience with risk management processes.
  • Knowledge of ERP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Proficiency in GD&T techniques.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and Standard Measuring Inspection (SMI) equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable machine shop, weld, composite, propellant, electrical, and assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with Non-Destructive Test inspection processes.
  • Experience with dimensional, visual, sample, and witness inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Familiarity with calibration system requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic quality laboratory processes.
  • Experience with basic clean room practices and methods.
  • Knowledge of configuration management best practices.
  • Experience with computer systems and software programs such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
  • Ability to audit, interpret, and evaluate data and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and related specifications.
  • AWS Certified Weld Inspector or 3 years of hardware-related experience with welding.
