Overview
The Structural Welder position involves planning, laying out, welding, installing, and repairing various structural steel products according to plans, specifications, and industry standards. The role requires intermediate experience and entails working with multiple welding processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding on various materials at required position using different welding processes, including GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and SAW.
- Lay out, position, fit and weld various structural components in accordance with supplied fabrication drawings.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
- Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed and handle compressed gas and oxygen cylinders safely.
- Operate air arc gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
Requirements
- May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous experience in the field or a related area.
- Must possess working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
Additional Information
- Able to meet all physical requirements.
- Must have all required tools.
- Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft).
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
