Overview

The Welder position at Altec involves preparing, assembling, and installing vehicle and chipper components to required specifications. Altec is a leading supplier of products and services for various markets, including electric utility and telecommunications.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret schematics and work orders.
  • Use basic hand tools and specialty equipment.
  • Follow established safety and quality policies.
  • Learn and operate all equipment within the work area.
  • Perform rework as required.
  • Support APS initiatives and participate in RCI events.
  • Cross-train and move to other work areas as needed.
  • Maintain daily time records.
  • Install vehicle and chipper components and accessories.
  • Test installed components.
  • Master mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Train new and current associates.
  • Complete necessary documentation and paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
  • Basic computer usage knowledge required.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics required.
  • State Certification desired.
  • Proficient knowledge in mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, or manufacturing processes desired.
  • AWS D.1.1 weld certification required.
  • Vocational training is desired.

Additional Information

  • Ability to obtain Forklift certificate if required.
  • Shift work may be required.
  • Keep a clean work area (5S).
