Overview

Midland Manufacturing, part of OPW, a Dover Company, is a leader in the rail tank car valves and fittings industry. The Quality Inspector will provide coverage of QA Lab responsibilities in support of production, working closely with manufacturing team members and engineering functions.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and without injury.
  • Interpret drawings and verify requirements for production/PPAP parts.
  • Apply statistical methods and perform calculations to determine manufacturing process capabilities.
  • Recommend and specify instrumentation, calibration, and gauging needs.
  • Confer with personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, and project status.
  • Understand and perform to all quality regulations and standards, including ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M-1003.
  • Participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews.
  • Participate in team meetings as required.
  • Problem-solve individually or as part of a group.
  • Perform housekeeping duties including 5S, coolant replacement, and TPM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years performing similar tasks/role.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use calipers, plug & thread gages, micrometers, and other measurement devices.
  • General knowledge and experience with a CMM and/or CNC programming desired.
  • Must be able to convey technical information effectively.
  • Must be a team player with active listening skills.
