Overview

Macy’s is seeking a Seasonal Welder/Float Fabricator in Moonachie, NJ, to contribute to the construction of floats, props, and other scenic elements for iconic events such as the Thanksgiving Day Parade and 4th of July Fireworks. This role requires collaboration with production and engineering teams and involves various tasks related to welding and fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Works as a welder and fabricator on floats and other studio projects.
• Acts as a crew member on installations, setups, and takedowns.
• Participates in parade setup and other events as needed.
• Collaborates with the Production and Engineering teams on building methods and execution.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Shop Manager and/or production manager.

Requirements

• Knowledge or experience in carpentry, welding, painting, or sculpting is required.
• Ability to read scale drawings and use scale models.
• Ability to multitask and collaborate with multiple artists and builders.
• Ability to perform professional level finish work on all projects.
• General knowledge of welding/metal fabrication and rigging is a plus.
• Knowledge or experience in electrics, plumbing, and hydraulics is a plus.
• Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
• Experience in theater sets, construction, or display shop is a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods.

• This is a full-time seasonal position.
