Overview

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 leader in industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking a highly self-motivated Pipeline Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of the nitrogen pipeline system in Chandler, AZ. The role involves pipeline operations and maintenance activities while promoting a culture of inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Carry company provided cell phone and respond to pipeline/plant call-outs during off-hours.
  • Understand and properly use AZ811 call before dig system.
  • Utilize 'Dig Tix' software.
  • Experience in positive locating of underground utilities is a plus.
  • Read and understand P&ID's, pipeline alignment sheets, and wiring schematics.
  • Walk an average of 3 miles a day in rough terrain in extreme conditions.
  • Meet with contractors, designers, and city representatives to protect the pipeline.
  • Review and respond to design requests and submittals.
  • Conduct regular patrols of pipelines to ensure normal operation.
  • Schedule and support pay meter calibrations and periodic preventative maintenance.
  • Understand Cathodic Protection for underground pipeline maintenance activities.
  • Participate in pipeline/plant initiatives and training opportunities.
  • Maintain pipeline signage and field equipment as needed.
  • Participate in the site's safety program.
  • Familiar with Lock out, Tag out and safety work permit systems.
  • Support plant activities as pipeline work demand allows.
  • Perform simple PM tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field is a plus.
  • Military service in a related field is a plus.
  • Detail oriented and willing to document details appropriately.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault isolation skills.
  • Strong personal safety philosophy.
  • Must be team oriented and willing to learn.
  • Must be willing to take on-call during nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • SAP experience is a plus.
  • Clean driving record required.
