Overview

The Field Tank Welder position requires a skilled individual capable of performing welding tasks safely and efficiently, particularly in the construction of field erected storage structures. The role involves extensive travel and working in various conditions, necessitating physical stamina and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties safely.
  • Weld with 7018 and downhill using 6010.
  • Manually move 100 feet of weld lead (70-100 lbs.).
  • Arc gouge as needed.
  • Climb to heights of 160 feet above ground using tools.
  • Assist in moving steel plates: unloading, loading, hanging, aligning, and fitting.
  • Drive stakes and fit up vertically, round, roof, and bottom seams.
  • Perform bottom breakdowns.
  • Grind weld seams in preparation for x-ray and clean plate surfaces.

Requirements

  • Must pass a weld test per AWS or ASME in the relevant processes.
  • Must pass either a bend test or x-ray welding with 7018 in vertical position.
  • Experience in the construction of field erected storage structures.
  • Proficient in using tools such as hammers, fit up bars, grinders, and chipping hammers.
  • Ability to pass a post hire physical and substance abuse test.
