Overview

The Cylinder Maintenance Technician at Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. in Houston, TX, is responsible for performing inspections, repairs, and maintenance on gas cylinders. This role involves operating testing equipment and ensuring safety standards while contributing to a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and physical inspections on cylinders before filling.
  • Conduct cylinder conversions, including de-valving, valving, stripping, and repairing valves.
  • Operate hydrostatic and ultrasonic cylinder testers.
  • Maintain required certifications to certify cylinders as retested.
  • Operate a forklift for material handling and movement of cylinders.
  • Receive incoming cylinders, valves, and maintenance supplies.
  • Diagnose and repair cylinder neck leaks and safety-related leaks.
  • Inspect and identify defective cylinders, scrapping them when appropriate.
  • Perform painting, housekeeping, and light plant maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in the gas industry or cylinder maintenance is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and handle up to 40 - 70 lbs.
  • Mechanically inclined with a strong, self-motivated work ethic.
