Overview

Axiom Space is a human space exploration company focused on building space infrastructure and delivering technology-driven solutions. They are seeking a resilient and energetic Facilities Technician to support their Facilities team in expanding and outfitting facilities to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all projects are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain and repair facilities and equipment.
  • Provide scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs.
  • Communicate with management.
  • Oversee and install/repair HVAC systems, cabinets, partitions, shelves, drop ceilings, floors, doors, locks, faucets, water heaters, lighting, and related items.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Operate and maintain shop equipment.
  • Operate heavy machinery, such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and manlifts.
  • Visit job sites daily to document and ensure the quality, safety, and progress of the work.
  • Communicate project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Implement and maintain agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma/GED or trade school equivalent.
  • 5+ years of facilities experience.
  • HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing experience preferred.
  • Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively.
  • Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results.
  • Passion for space and the mission.
  • Entrepreneurial, growth mindset.
  • High EQ and ability to collaborate within teams and cross-functionally.
  • Proven experience in a hands-on/mechanical background.
  • Computer skills such as Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of technical aspects of HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical issues.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, structural, plumbing, and electrical issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • Must be able to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Must be familiar with a wide variety of hand/power tools.
  • Experience with gas piping systems for aerospace services preferred.
  • Must be available to work demanding schedules including overtime, weekends, and on-call duty.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to see interactions with other systems.

Additional Information

  • This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.
