Overview

The Ironworker Journeyperson is responsible for planning, laying out, and performing structural steel erection and fabrication work according to applicable standards. Sundt is a 100% employee-owned contractor focused on long-term prosperity for clients and employee-owners, offering competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others.
• Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.
• Demonstrate high proficiency in related trade mathematics.
• Inspect subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications.
• Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
• Look for opportunities for improvement in tasks and methods.
• Maintain positive working relationships with crew members.
• Produce high-quality work safely and productively.
• Provide feedback to ensure availability of materials, tools, equipment, and information.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards.
• Minimum of three to six plus years of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.
• In-depth understanding of the ironworker trade.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
