Overview

The Maintenance Technician position is a full-time role focused on performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, installations, and repairs to ensure high dependability of equipment and facilities. The technician will also participate in continuous improvement programs and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, installations, and repairs.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Ensure work is completed safely and timely.
• Support GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement programs.
• Understand customer requirements and deliver results to meet or exceed expectations.
• Stop any process that does not meet food safety or customer quality requirements.
• Report safety hazards immediately.
• Perform electrical/mechanical preventive maintenance to minimize machine downtime.
• Resolve electrical/mechanical emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Create notifications for work that needs to be completed.
• Close out work orders upon completion.
• Review and revise incoming Maintenance Notifications as needed.
• Maintain adequate records of work performed and corrective actions taken.
• Set good examples for co-workers through good work habits.
• Monitor and maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; vocational school; demonstrated mechanical ability; six or more months related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of industrial electricity, pipefitting, water, gas air, and hydraulic lines.
• Good working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Knowledge of safe use and care of tools.
• Knowledge and use of lock out/tag out procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Basic computer skills and data entry.
• Practice good housekeeping.
• Obey all safety rules, regulations, and policies.
• Ability to regularly stand for long periods and use hands to handle objects.
• Good hand-eye coordination is essential.
• Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• Must work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in outside weather conditions.
• Exposure to extreme heat, cold, and humidity for short periods.
