Overview

The Process Technician - Wirebond position at DRS involves handling the wire bonding of focal plane arrays and providing technical support for electronic, optical, and mechanical assemblies. DRS is focused on developing and supporting infrared and electro-optical solutions for military applications, offering a competitive salary and benefits in a challenging work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to engineers and scientists on moderately complex components and processes.
  • Test, modify, rework, and repair electronic, optical, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Work from moderately complex wiring and assembly drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Design and test prototype assemblies and production units.
  • Use judgment in reworking or rewiring to meet quality control specifications.
  • Test, inspect, and repair electronic, optical, or mechanical assemblies.
  • Work under minimal supervision and provide guidance to other technicians.
  • Perform related manufacturing processes.
  • Interpret and follow written documents such as SOPs and safety rules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in training new team members.
  • Interface with other departments to assure efficient flow of information and materials.
  • Meet production deadlines and maintain quality of finished products.
  • Balance throughput requirements between different product areas.
  • Support and communicate the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Operate various types of manufacturing and process equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma is required.
  • 2 or more years of equivalent technical experience in wire-bonding or semiconductor device processing.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Capable of working in a clean room environment.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and excellent data collection skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and manufacturing execution systems.
