Overview

SAIC is seeking experienced Welding Technicians to join their growing team at the Bedford Production Facility. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in welding and fabrication and be comfortable working individually or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all welding required for the project including all required preparation and completion of quality welds.
  • Maintain readiness of equipment to complete all given tasking.
  • Participate in efforts to improve processes and procedures for welding and fabrication tasks that meet production and integration objectives.
  • Support the development of jigs/fixtures and other related assembly and fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with the project team to analyze technical documentation including drawings, schematics, and layouts.
  • Conduct inspections, tests, evaluations, and document results for equipment and processes, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize rework.
  • Perform additional technician work as needed in disassembly/reassembly of components and systems in process for completion.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related discipline with a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED with at least five years of experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical drawings, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated skill in welding techniques and fabrication processes, including MIG, TIG, cutting/prep, metal work, etc.
  • Understand how to select the right tool or process for completing the given tasks and producing the required outcomes.
  • Ability to perform routine work with flexibility for variations in complexity, collaborating with higher-level personnel for guidance when necessary.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • No clearance required to start but must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
