Overview

The Electronic Fabricator III position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to NASA's deep space exploration efforts by performing various fabrication and assembly tasks. The role requires a skilled technician to work with a diverse team, ensuring high-quality standards in electronic fabrication and hardware assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work based on sketches, engineering drawings, and schematics.
  • Follow documented procedures and task performance sheets.
  • Obtain certifications and remain proficient in various soldering and handling techniques.
  • Perform printed circuit board assembly and repair.
  • Conduct cable and harness fabrication, assembly, and repair.
  • Engage in electromechanical fabrication, assembly, and repair.
  • Identify and communicate issues during design review and fabrication.
  • Modify and repair commercial off-the-shelf hardware.
  • Conduct parts and calibrated tools inventory.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Coach and mentor lesser skilled technicians.
  • Work after hours and/or weekends as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding Electronic Engineering Fabrication Drawings.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding detailed Electronic Fabrication Procedures.
  • Knowledge of ESD, FOD, and controlled stock handling practices.
  • Knowledge of an Electromechanical Laboratory environment and its Safety Procedures.
  • Ability to solder through hole and SMT at the expert level.
  • Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently without oversight.
  • Ability to recommend manufacturability guidance.

  • 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), when applicable.
