Overview

The Structural Welder position involves planning, laying out, and performing structural steel erection and fabrication work according to applicable standards. The role requires collaboration with other crafts and effective communication within the team at Sundt, a 100% employee-owned contractor focused on building long-term prosperity.

Responsibilities

  • Seek opportunities to share knowledge and teach others.
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency in related trade mathematics.
  • Inspect subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
  • Look for opportunities for improvement in all tasks and methods.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
  • Produce high-quality work safely and productively.
  • Provide feedback to ensure availability of materials, tools, equipment, and information.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards.
  • Minimum of three to six years of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry, depending on level.
  • In-depth understanding of the ironworker trade.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently.

  • Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
