Job Description

Overview

This is a 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic position at Haydon, where the focus is on maintaining and troubleshooting industrial machinery. The role involves diagnosing mechanical problems, performing preventive maintenance, and collaborating with the production team to ensure machine efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
  • Communicate daily with your direct supervisor and maintenance leadership regarding assignments and machine statuses.
  • Provide regular updates on machine conditions, maintenance progress, and any issues impacting production.
  • Inspect A/C motors, gearboxes, presses, resistance welders, and other roll forming equipment.
  • Support changeover processes for welders, mills, and secondary punch machines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines.
  • Suggest improvements to the preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Provide timely updates on scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
  • Replace worn parts and fluids as needed.
  • Test and adjust components for proper operation.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
  • Identify critical spares and consumable parts for purchase.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machines following SOP and instructions.
  • Consult manuals for proper operation and maintenance of machines.
  • Continuously monitor production line efficiency and engage with operations teams to resolve issues.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance leadership requests regarding production lines.
  • Ensure timely communication to prevent misunderstandings and minimize downtime.
  • Prepare and provide reports and updates as required.
  • Collaborate with leadership to execute assignments aligned with skillset.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Perform general maintenance work on buildings as assigned.
  • Assist with troubleshooting using basic understanding of HMI.
  • Operate material handling equipment including propane forklifts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the area according to 5S principles.
  • Support continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide on-the-job training for other maintenance team members.
  • Act as a team player within the maintenance team.

Requirements

  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety rules.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety protocols.
  • 6+ years of repairing/maintaining manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with presses and mills.
  • Experience with welding and making minor repairs.
  • Comprehension of single and 3 phase power requirements.
  • Comprehension of machinery electrical requirements.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and basic understanding of their function.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and treat colleagues with respect.
  • Proven record of strong attendance.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft software.
  • Bilingual – Spanish Preferred.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25-50 lbs and co-lift up to 50-100 lbs.
