Overview

The Welder I position is an entry-level role focused on laying out, fitting, and welding fabricated steel or aluminum components. The job involves following specific responsibilities and ensuring quality and safety in the welding process.

Responsibilities

  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Direct setup personnel in layout, align, and fit components together.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Complete welding tasks as assigned by the department manager.
  • Care for equipment and ensure proper machine settings to optimize welding.
  • Report any nonconformance of components or machine functions to the department manager.
  • Complete daily records documenting completed work tasks.
  • Gather parts and components for assemblies as assigned by the department manager.
  • Assess welding jig for maintenance adjustments.
  • Utilize engineering drawings to weld components that meet requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift.
  • Strong attendance and dependability.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Attention to detail and focus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
