Overview

The Weld Technician is responsible for conducting weld audits, verifying equipment settings, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with welding standards in a manufacturing environment. The role requires strong communication skills to collaborate with welders and quality control inspectors.

Responsibilities

  • Audit structural and A surface welds 2x per day, every weld line.
  • Correct and coach welders and leads as needed.
  • Document non-conforming welds into a daily audit report.
  • Communicate with QC inspectors to resolve weld issues.
  • Verify welder settings per standard.
  • Check gas mixes to ensure they meet standards.
  • Troubleshoot welding equipment issues.
  • Ensure consumables are installed correctly.
  • Verify there are no bare grounds or damaged leads and guns.
  • Review and verify prints/weld maps.
  • Help create Standard Work on weld lines.
  • Audit Weld PPE.
  • Audit Proper Body and Hand Placement.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years welding experience.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Valid welding certifications preferred.
  • Destructive testing experience preferred.
