Overview

The Weld Supervisor at Big Tex Trailers is responsible for leading a team of welders to safely produce high-quality trailers while meeting daily production goals. This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, coaching employees, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead daily welding operations to meet production schedules.
  • Train, coach, and develop welders on safety, quality, and welding techniques.
  • Monitor employee performance and hold team members accountable for attendance, productivity, and quality.
  • Ensure all welds meet engineering specifications and company quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions.
  • Assist with welding and fabrication as needed to support production.
  • Identify and resolve production, quality, and equipment issues.
  • Ensure employees have the tools, materials, and resources needed to perform their work.
  • Promote and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to improve efficiency and achieve production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of welding procedures, metallurgy, and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience troubleshooting welding defects and production issues.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and manufacturing best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems preferred.
