Job Description

Overview

The Welder position involves performing welding tasks in accordance with established procedures, ensuring compliance with cycle time and acceptability requirements. The role requires knowledge of machines and tools, as well as a commitment to safety and quality in welding operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding of components in accordance with the applicable Work Order.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel and the safe operation of welding equipment.
  • Notify supervisory personnel of any nonconforming conditions.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
  • Determine required equipment and welding method based on metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Remove rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings to utilize proper welding materials.
  • Verify workmanship in relation to size, location, and quality.
  • Verify materials, consumables, and cleanliness of components in the work area.

Requirements

  • High School graduate, hold GED certificate, or have industry-related experience.
  • Demonstrate ability by qualification to weld procedures for applicable methods or techniques.
  • Possess the ability to utilize necessary hand tools and practice safety in the work area.
  • Ability to operate handling and lifting devices.

Additional Information

  • Some shop workers may require additional training for offshore work.
  • Climbing is required off and on throughout the day.
  • Must be able to write and speak English.
  • GCS has a 'Zero Tolerance' drug and alcohol screening program.
  • Pulling one's own weight along a vertical ladder or horizontal plane is required.
