Overview

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry with a focus on egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. The Maintenance Tech II position is responsible for ensuring equipment productivity and efficiency through troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety work rules and reinforce safety as a core value.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on all basic and filling/processing equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics operations.
  • Monitor efficiency of equipment and locate sources of problems.
  • Remove or replace defective parts and determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust necessary components of equipment using hand tools.
  • Adhere to budget and compliance guidelines including USDA, OSHA, SQF, and FDA.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories and place orders as needed.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow GMP and HACCP guidelines to maintain product quality.
  • Report any conditions that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience in packing machines or production machines.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing industry or similar.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair filling equipment (Elopak/Scholle).
  • Basic repairs related to electrical components and processing equipment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of plumbing, heating, and refrigeration.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • Well organized with the ability to plan and prioritize activities.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.

  • The pay range for this position is $28.56 to $36.72 per hour.
  • Position is for 3rd Shift.
  • Location is in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
