Overview

Amentum is seeking a Machinist III to join their team, contributing to NASA's deep space exploration efforts. The role involves precision machining and assembly of parts and tools, utilizing various machining equipment while ensuring adherence to exacting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, layout, machine and assemble parts and tools to precision tolerances.
  • Set and operate various machining equipment including lathes and milling machines.
  • Determine the sequence of machining operations and required finishes.
  • Make complete layouts on parts involving compound angles.
  • Set up machines to perform operations independently.
  • Check machine setups and parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Work from detailed drawings, templates, or oral instructions.
  • Offer technical direction on pre-fabrication reviews and modifications.
  • Operate machines for various machining operations.
  • Program and operate in at least one CNC language.
  • Train less experienced machinists and inspect their work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Organize and store inventory, materials, and safety equipment.
  • Use lift equipment as required.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12 years of machinist experience.
  • Familiarity with at least one CNC programming language.
  • Proficient with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
