Job Description

Overview

The Machinist 2 position involves performing machine setups and typical machine shop operations to support the assembly floor while adhering to safety regulations and maintaining equipment. Candidates are expected to have extensive experience in CNC machining and a strong understanding of engineering instructions and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all engineering instructions and departmental procedures.
  • Perform machine setups on manual lathes, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and Waterjet machines.
  • Support the assembly floor with typical machine shop operations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines as required.
  • Conduct visual inspections of machines for damage or wear.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for processes and programs.
  • Train incoming Operators and Set Up Technicians.
  • Verify gage calibration and machine fixturing for setups.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with CNC programming and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances.
  • Ensure machine safety and lubrication according to operation manuals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in CNC machining environments.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Proficient in using hand-held measuring tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to assist other departments with management approval.
