Overview

EthosEnergy is seeking a 2nd Shift Manual Machinist I to join our team in Houston, TX. In this hands-on role, you will machine, assemble, and prepare steam and gas turbine components for engineering testing and evaluation while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Record data on prepared forms to document erecting results, clearances, etc.
  • Determine extent of damage and make reports on customer returned units.
  • Remove burrs and sharp edges, mark, identify, preserve and protect parts as directed.
  • Detect and correct errors such as improper fits, alignment, clearances and similar mechanical errors.
  • Consistently produce work of proper quality.
  • Setup and operate mill, lathe, and surface grinder with minimum supervision.
  • Perform complex rigging with minimum supervision.
  • Learn and perform basic blading fundamentals as required.
  • Fulfill temporary assignments outside of home department including customer work sites.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward safety, cleanliness, neatness, quality and quantity of work.
  • Travel to customer sites and other EthosEnergy facilities to support as needed.
  • Adhere & comply to EthosEnergy Safety, Quality and production standards daily.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in machining.
  • 10+ years in machining rotors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic equipment cleaning skills.
  • Ability to understand tooling and take dimensions with various tools.
  • Understanding of part terminologies and handling materials.
  • Ability to operate a scissor lift, crane, and forklift.
  • Experience in deburring parts.
  • Ability to operate a material saw, drill press, knee mill, and mill.
  • Experience in resharpening tooling.
  • Ability to indicate parts in a VTL.
  • Experience in rigging and lifting nozzles and diaphragms.
  • Ability to operate a mag base drill.
  • Understanding of blueprints.
  • Ability to operate horizontal lathe and plan efficient setups.
  • Experience in rigging and lifting turbine cases.
  • Experience with lathe setups with 1 and 2 steady rests.
  • Experience in rigging and lifting rotors.
  • Ability to indicate parts in a large mill.
  • Experience in block polishing.
  • Ability to operate a tip grinder.
  • Experience in training others.
  • Ability to indicate rotors in a horizontal lathe.
  • Experience in designing and making fixtures.
  • Ability to perform part setups involving deep hole machining.
  • Experience in machining critical features with max .0005" tolerance.
  • Ability to skim and burnish probe areas.
  • Experience in operating flange facers.
  • Ability to grind rotor journals.
  • Experience in setting up and operating a boring bar.
  • Advanced critical thinking involving one-off repairs.
  • Machinery troubleshooting skills.
