Overview

MGX Shop Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. This position is located at the Dallas, Texas branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Branch Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Read, understand and interpret operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Test mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification.
  • Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Properly fill out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
  • Accomplish tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Crane Mechanic/Technician.
  • Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
  • Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
  • The position will be required to work in an environment with exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures and various weather conditions.
