Overview

The City of Dallas is seeking an Industrial Mechanic for the Dallas Water Utilities, offering a career with purpose, competitive benefits, and opportunities for growth. Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and determines equipment failures and ensures repairs are completed.
• Inspects and tests completed work to ensure repairs meet standards.
• Researches and orders parts needed for repairs and maintains inventory.
• Demonstrates proper work methods and safety procedures to other mechanics.
• Inspects and executes repair, replacement, and installation of plant equipment.
• Performs major and minor repairs on machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Changes belts, oil, filters, and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Serves as lead worker over lower level mechanics.
• Performs any other work as needed or assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Four years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance principles.
• Skill in using appropriate hand tools and repair techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturer’s manuals.
• Ability to analyze and diagnose problems.
• Ability to operate computer diagnostic equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required.

Additional Information

• Subject to 24/7 call-out and stand-by rotation.
• Subject to working in confined spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, climb, and be available at various shifts.
• Must perform work outdoors, often in inclement weather and industrial environments.
