Overview

The Welder (1st) position involves welding metal parts using various techniques, performing related tasks such as cutting and grinding, and ensuring quality standards are met. The role requires precision and the ability to inspect and prepare components for welding.

Responsibilities

  • Welds metal parts together using gas welding, brazing, and arc welding processes.
  • Performs thermal cutting and grinding tasks.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes with overlay metal.
  • Locates cracks using die penetrant NDT methods and repairs large fabrications.
  • Positions and sets up components for weld repairs and fabrication.
  • Lays out parts and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Creates templates and work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Rigs and fixtures parts to be welded.
  • Welds components in various positions and adjusts settings for optimal weld deposit.
  • Inspects assembly aspects using precision measuring instruments.
  • Pre-heats parts for effective welding.
