Overview

The Welder position involves performing various welding, brazing, and cutting techniques using gas and electric welding equipment while adhering to safety regulations and Unarco’s Total Quality Management philosophy. The role requires the ability to handle multiple tasks in a job shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives instructions for job from welding supervisor.
  • Fits and assembles parts using welding techniques and appropriate equipment.
  • Applies welding principles to work on new products and troubleshoot issues.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded and assembles parts to required tolerance.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Meets or exceeds production standards.
  • Works without close supervision.
  • Performs quality checks as instructed.
  • Works scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends as required.
  • Operates material handling equipment safely.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass company entry level welding and tape tests.
  • Must understand verbal and written orders.
  • Ability to weld clean, high quality, certifiable products.
  • Must be able to count and sort products.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Must complete inventory tickets.
  • Ability to set up welding machines.
  • Manual dexterity skills required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience in welding or less, preferably with 6 months of formal training.
