Overview

The Welder position involves welding and related tasks to support the maintenance, repair, and construction of freight and passenger railroad track, emphasizing a safety-first approach. The role includes training and supervising others while adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and instruct equipment operators in safe and efficient work performance.
  • Train welder helpers to provide safe and efficient relief for the position.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, materials, and supplies are maintained, used, and stored properly.
  • Prepare and maintain payroll, production reports, accident and injury reports, and personnel reports.
  • Adhere to all FEC Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license and valid credentials required by federal and state laws, including CDL Class B.
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week, overtime, and various shift work.
  • Familiarity with FRA Track Safety Standards Part 213 Subpart A to G.
  • At least one year of responsible supervisory experience in track maintenance in Class 4 or higher.
  • Capability to operate all FEC Maintenance of Way vehicles in its fleet.
  • Must complete and pass all FEC Rules Classes: Safety, Operating, and Roadway Worker.

Additional Information

  • Start date scheduled for October 5, 2026.
  • Paid training will commence in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for two weeks.
  • On-the-job training will be in St. Augustine, FL.
  • Work schedule is 0700-1800 Tuesday-Friday.
