Overview

The Welder is responsible for setting welding machine parameters, making welds to specifications, and ensuring quality standards are met. This role requires knowledge of welding processes and the ability to work with various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Set appropriate welding machine parameters for the material being welded.
  • Make welds to meet print specifications.
  • Produce strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.
  • Follow required procedures and use appropriate fixtures for assembly.
  • Perform basic operation of robotic weld cell as assigned.
  • Verify conformance of finished parts to print specifications and quality standards.
  • Properly use and maintain tools, fixtures, and machines.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years’ experience or vocational schooling in a related field.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and equipment.
  • Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead with good penetration and quality.
  • Exceptional math skills including metric system and angles.
  • Ability to read tape measures, angle finders, blueprint drawings, and AWS symbols.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to weld in awkward positions such as kneeling or lying down and work from a ladder.
  • Ability to work full-time, 5 days per week, 10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
