Job Description

Overview

At United Airlines, the Facilities Maintenance Technician (Building Engineer) role involves supporting the maintenance of aircraft and facilities, requiring expertise in various building trades and electrical systems. Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance with emphasis on electrical systems, including AC & DC circuits and high voltage.
  • Execute industrial wiring tasks and read wiring schematics without supervision.
  • Make low and high voltage repairs to building electrical equipment.
  • Solve, install, and repair 110/220/480 volt single and multiphase electrical circuitry and devices.
  • Work with related building equipment and trades such as air handling units, plumbing, fire systems, and conveyors.
  • Work shifts around the clock, including weekends and holidays, in all weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Twenty-four months of experience in at least three of the following areas: Electrical, Structural, HVAC, Mechanical, Plumbing, PLC electronic/computer controls.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Ability to maintain and repair all building disciplines, heavy mechanical and welding.
  • Must be able to climb and work from ladders and walk for extended periods.
  • Moderate lifting capability required.
  • Must possess sufficient tooling to perform required tasks.
  • Computer experience for input and retrieval of data.
  • Valid, clean, applicable state driver's license required.

Additional Information

  • Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority.
  • Facilities Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT).
  • New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment.
