Overview

At NJ TRANSIT, the Autobody Technician will conduct removal, replacement, and alignment on all body parts and components fastened to NJ Transit buses. The company is committed to delivering safe, reliable service and is looking for talented individuals to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform body work and accident repairs.
  • Lay out work, fabricate items as needed, and assemble them.
  • Use tools such as hydraulic pistons and frame straightening devices.
  • Remove, replace, and align all body parts and components on buses.
  • Work in confined areas using respirators and full air supplied self-contained overalls.
  • Fill and sand body parts and fiberglass.
  • Cut and tack weld.
  • Fill out forms and understand parts manuals.
  • Accurately fill out daily time tickets.
  • Keep the work area clean, uncluttered, and safe.
  • Follow established shop safety policy and procedures.
  • Be willing to work overtime when requested.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED; ASE certification is a plus.
  • Possess at least three years of auto body shop experience.
  • Possess a valid NJ License or valid NY/PA CDL with passenger endorsement.
  • Be able to pass the pre-employment physical and background checks.
  • Have a good driving record with less than five points.

Additional Information

  • Normal working hours are 7:30 am-4:00 pm Monday to Friday with possible overtime.
