Overview

The Diesel Mechanic role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various vehicle systems, ensuring effective maintenance and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and troubleshoot major components.
  • Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software.
  • Assist in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
  • Wash vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles.
  • Assist with service calls for breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic.
  • Computer diagnostic experience is required.
  • Prior experience in the waste management industry or heavy equipment dealership is a plus.
  • Trade school or similar training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
