Overview

Middlesex Water Company is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Mechanic to support maintenance operations under the direction of the Maintenance Planner or Superintendent of Production. The role involves performing inspections, monitoring equipment, and adhering to safety policies while promoting the company's values of Respect, Invest, Growth, Honesty, and Teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections at all production facilities including pumps, motors, and electrical wiring.
  • Monitor water levels in storage tanks and record well pumping information.
  • Perform general housekeeping and grounds keeping at facilities.
  • Start up and shutdown chlorination and well pumps as required.
  • Conduct chlorine residual analysis.
  • Attend training courses and seminars as required.
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanics with plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical, and pipe fitting operations.
  • Perform switch over of the chlorine supply at well field as required.
  • Handle chemical receiving and safe handling of chlorine cylinders.
  • Inspect plant equipment and metering pits.
  • Perform snow removal at facilities.
  • Work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
  • Clean various basins, storage tanks, and reservoirs as necessary.
  • Adhere to and promote the Company safety policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must maintain a valid NJ Driver’s License.
  • At least four years of experience in plant, motor, electrical, and pump maintenance operation.
  • A specific trade skill may be required in either electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
  • Ability to obtain T-1 license within three years of employment.
