Overview

At Hackensack Meridian Health, team members are integral to improving patient lives and supporting each other in a collaborative environment. The Maintenance Mechanic role involves repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment and machinery to ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Observe all mechanical equipment in operation.
  • Dismantle inoperative equipment, remove, repair or replace defective parts.
  • Adjust functional parts of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Lubricate and clean mechanical parts.
  • Start mechanical equipment and test their performance.
  • Utilize electrical and mechanical tools, hand tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, gauges, meters, etc. to perform required work.
  • Handle all emergencies related to Plant Operations during off shifts.
  • Work any day or shift as needed.
  • Perform other duties of Plant Operations as required.
  • Use machine shop equipment to repair required mechanical parts.
  • Read blueprints or specifications in the performance of mechanic tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or other Vocational degrees/certificates.
  • 3-5 years in related work experience.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach most of the day.
  • Handle light and medium weight tools, objects, and equipment.
  • Frequently move equipment up to 80 lbs.
  • Work on ladders and scaffolds.
  • Adapt to changing conditions including dirt, dust, fumes, grease, water, steam, refrigerants, and various Plant Operational compounds.
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors.
