Overview

The Terminal Operator is responsible for handling petroleum and products safely and in an environmentally appropriate manner. Kinder Morgan is a large energy infrastructure company committed to providing energy transportation and storage services efficiently and responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Follow all health, safety, security, environmental (HSSE) and operational practices and procedures.
• Monitor and maintain equipment for safe, efficient operations 24/7.
• Perform automatic and manual readings (meters, gauges, etc.).
• Conduct maintenance and housekeeping on terminal equipment and grounds.
• Conduct sampling, calibration, and other quality assurance activities.
• Gauge terminal tanks before receipt of product by truck, railcar, or marine vessel.
• Monitor contractors for adherence to safety guidelines.
• Utilize computers to log information and communicate with others.
• Complete authorization to work permits and safety-related paperwork.
• Calibrate various pieces of equipment.
• Maintain product integrity and learn government regulations.
• Provide safety orientations as appropriate.
• Maintain terminal automation systems and related equipment.
• Keep documentation organized and readily available.
• Interface effectively with Project Managers.
• Assist with, prepare, and implement a preventive maintenance program.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able and willing to work up to 16 hours a shift.
• Ability to work outside for long periods in any weather conditions.
• Willing to be on call 24/7 at times.
• Physically qualified to lift, carry, push, pull or drag up to 50 pounds and climb heights up to 50 feet.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must have a mechanical aptitude.
• Good communication skills and technical language.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors.
• Solid math skills including addition, subtraction, percentages, and fractions.
• Demonstrate initiative and be an effective team member.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Must pass a Job Skills Test (JST).
• 2 years pipeline or oil/petroleum industry experience preferred.
• Post High School education in technical crafts or relevant work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of diagrams (electrical/mechanical) reading preferred.
• Knowledge of pressure control devices, valves, etc. preferred.
