Overview

The Materials Mechanical Engineering Technician position at a Medical Devices Company in Franklin Lakes, NJ involves conducting testing and experiments in a materials lab, ensuring compliance with quality policies, and supporting lab operations. Responsibilities

  • Perform batch mixing, compounding, and extruding of various material types.
  • Interpret data to draw conclusions, identify trends, and provide solutions.
  • Involved in problem-solving and improvement of test plans.
  • Oversee lab supplies stock and reordering, acting as primary purchase order processor.
  • Manage chemical inventory and MSDS upkeep, ensuring timely removal of expired chemicals.
  • Communicate relevant and accurate information in a timely manner.
  • Submit final data to requester and/or archival in conjunction with lab technicians.
  • Execute Continuous Improvement projects in various areas.
  • Coordinate equipment upgrades and installation.
  • Develop and maintain fixture development.
  • Work under general supervision with minimal supervisory assistance.
  • Mentor/supervise junior technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical measurement equipment and materials characterization capabilities.
  • Experience with polymer compounding and processing is preferred.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis is desirable.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Understanding of regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of small hand tools and lab instrumentation.
