Overview

The position of Mechanical Engineer is available at a Medical Device Company located in Franklin Lakes, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract role focused on supporting product development activities for medical devices, particularly in the design and development of high volume disposable medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Support product development activities for medical devices and their components.
  • Prepare documents for external customers and assist in the development of processes.
  • Follow Corporate and Divisional Quality systems and comply with regulatory and safety guidelines.
  • Understand various ISO standards for medical devices and interpret their requirements.
  • Write customer-facing documents, technical memos, and reports.
  • Collect data from SAP and other servers for project inputs.
  • Interface with R&D, QA, Marketing, and plant personnel to support projects.
  • Develop or modify designs and 2D drawings using CAD software.
  • Create technical documentation and maintain periodic status reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS/BE in Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in product development or science/engineering research.
  • Hands-on experience with design and development of high volume disposable medical devices is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical design skills using CAD (SolidWorks and AutoCAD).
  • Understanding of testing and measurement systems.
  • Knowledge in protocol/procedure development for engineering studies.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate execution of work tasks.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Disciplined and organized in documentation in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to analyze and organize data clearly.
