Overview

The Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 2 for Norristown State Hospital. This role involves performing skilled maintenance and repair work across multiple trades to ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Repair pipes, fixtures, valves, traps, drains, pumps, and heating equipment.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain lighting, wiring, motors, and other electrical systems.
  • Remodel walls, ceilings, and floors and build items such as scaffolding, cabinets, and shelving.
  • Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and apply finishes to interior and exterior areas.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely while completing repairs and maintenance.
  • Follow safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and participate in asbestos abatement as required.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 or equivalent.
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel will be required as needed.
