Overview

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is a global leader in owner equipment manufacturing (OEM) dedicated to providing custom solutions for data center customers. The Field Services Technician - Level 1 role involves working with large-scale mechanical systems and providing service to customers in the field while collaborating with manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical, control and mechanical blueprints, drawings, and other specifications.
  • Measure and lay out reference points for installation.
  • Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components using hand and power tools.
  • Measure and cut piping and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment.
  • Start up system and test for leaks using testing devices.
  • Recharge system with refrigerant, check and test regulators, calibrate system and perform routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of heating and cooling/refrigeration equipment/systems.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-based Custom Controls designed and built by Silent-Aire.
  • Work independently on varied assignments requiring a broad and/or specialized knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC.
  • Communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical staff while maintaining a high level of communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
  • Knowledge of operating principles of various types of cooling/refrigeration equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical and solid state control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and building codes.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Previous experience with start up and commissioning responsibilities at customers facilities.
  • Ability to read, understand and work from blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
  • Ability to maintain required records and prepare reports.
  • Must possess valid passport/driver’s license.
  • Technical and working knowledge of internal and industry design and construction codes and standards.
  • Proven planning, organizational, problem solving, decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs and use ladders working from heights.
  • Experience working in highly sensitive and/or mission critical facilities.
