Overview

The Associate in Engineering Sciences will work with a diverse team on complex engineering challenges across various industries, focusing on failure analysis and providing world-class solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support hands-on failure investigations including comparison of as-built and existing conditions with the design.
  • Perform field and laboratory testing.
  • Assist with field inspections.
  • Perform calculations.
  • Research and analyze data.
  • Review, sort, and summarize relevant documentation.
  • Draft supporting verbiage for reports.
  • Help create demonstratives.
  • Analyze technical reports and develop concurring and rebuttal positions.
  • Assist with client communications across all time zones.
  • Develop positive relationships with colleagues, peers, and clients.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Manage workload to achieve simultaneous project milestones while maintaining schedules and budgets.
  • Engage in guided and self-directed professional development through training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Science/Architectural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a similar designation; advanced degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of prior experience in forensic/root cause analysis.
  • Pursuing PE credentials is a plus.
  • Skilled and proficient analytical and problem resolution abilities.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient at technical writing skills to complement analytics.
  • Ability to assimilate relevant information quickly and develop creative solutions.
  • Prioritize and manage time and resources with competing priorities.
  • Manage external stakeholders.
  • Work independently while identifying issues and risks to senior staff.
  • Passionate desire to join and/or lead auxiliary tasks within a growing practice.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Competency in a second non-English language is a plus.
