Overview

Trystar is a leader in power distribution equipment and related services, focused on producing high-quality products and providing industry-leading service. They are seeking a Welder I for their cable line, responsible for performing TIG welding on aluminum components to support the company's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG welding on aluminum materials with precise heat control.
  • Clean and prepare aluminum surfaces for welding.
  • Examine and verify the integrity of aluminum materials before welding.
  • Set up and adjust welding equipment based on project specifications.
  • Inspect finished welds for defects using visual inspection and non-destructive testing.
  • Work with various welding joint configurations according to project needs.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during welding.
  • Operate in different work environments based on project requirements.
  • Safely handle and move aluminum materials during the welding process.
  • Monitor the manufacturing process to maintain workflow and address inefficiencies.
  • Accurately record production data and assist in process improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve machining processes.
  • Read and execute processes according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain and operate hand tools and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in primarily TIG welding and MIG welding.
  • Proficiency in TIG welding techniques on aluminum materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with different grades and types of aluminum and their welding requirements.
  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Assess welded surfaces and components to identify errors.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend plant directives in English.

What you'll be running

TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
