Overview

At MasTec Communications Group, as a Fiber Splicer, you will develop new skills in a safety-minded environment while helping to expand technology for a better community. You will be responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks and ensuring high-quality service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks.
  • Operate all testing equipment and resolve challenges common to fiber optic networks.
  • Prep fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
  • Utilize fusion splicer and test equipment including OTDR, OLTS, Max Tester, and Power meter.
  • Apply fiber engineering knowledge for fiber design, documentation reading, understanding light levels, and dB loss.
  • Work in outdoor utility construction sites.

Requirements

  • Safety is a part of your day-to-day.
  • Track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
  • Ability to solve hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach.
  • Looking for long-term projects.
  • Comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck.
  • Flexible with a variety of shifts and overtime.
  • At least 3-5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
