Overview

The Inspector Structures Paint position involves inspecting various assemblies and components of airplanes to ensure workmanship and conformance to requirements, including final assembly and operational checkout prior to flight. The role is critical in maintaining quality standards in the aerospace industry.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural, electrical, and plumbing assemblies for workmanship and conformance to requirements.
• Conduct final assembly and mating of airplane structural components.
• Perform shakedown and operational checkout of completed airplane assemblies.
• Inspect sealing operations on integral wing tanks for conformance to designs and specifications.
• Approve final operational checkout of completed airplanes under simulated flight conditions.
• Inspect jig loading, framing, skinning, riveting, and out-of-jig shakedown of structural assemblies.
• Check assemblies for alignment, contour, material, finish, and shortages.
• Inspect functional installations for workmanship, clearance, tension, and conformance.
• Inspect bonding and pressure testing operations.
• Inspect spot-welded parts for workmanship and correct assembly.
• Stamp or approve acceptable items and prepare documentation for unacceptable items.
• Inspect aircraft during and after priming and final painting operations.

Requirements

• Four years of experience in military aircraft structures quality assurance, aircraft assembly, or related fields.
• One year of experience in application of aircraft finishes may offset one year of the four-year requirement.
• Completion of the LMASC Chattahoochee Technical Institute Production Inspection Training Course may offset one year of the four-year requirement.
• Passing score of the ASQ Certified Inspector examination may offset two years of the four-year requirement.
• Must pass the Lockheed Martin facilitated entrance Q&MS Inspection examination prior to employment.
• Must demonstrate ability to satisfy associated requirements within the Human Factors Assessment prior to employment.
