Overview

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is one of the largest mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractors in Indiana, specializing in a full range of new and retrofit construction for various sectors. They are looking for a 1st Shift Welder in their Fire Fabrication shop, responsible for using a universal welder to make cuts and welds on steel pipe.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and drawings
  • Take measurements to plan layouts
  • Set up welding machine according to specifications
  • Weld components using semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Test all machine welds to ensure quality
  • Weld by hand any leaks found in quality penetration die test
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 4 plus years of welding experience
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Pipe welding and welding certificates are a plus
  • Dependable with good attendance and a positive attitude
  • Good work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate ideas and thoughts both verbally and in written form
  • Must be able to work Saturday, with attendance record counting against missed days
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate with others
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk for 8-12 hour shifts
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
