Overview

Kershaw Equipment, located in Montgomery, AL, is a leader in rail maintenance and vegetation management production and a worldwide supplier of maintenance-of-way equipment. This position is responsible for operating various hand-welding and flame-cutting equipment to weld, fabricate, or join work pieces together, primarily focusing on pipe fitting and welding.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve materials assembled and weld into a finished product.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
  • Interpret welding blueprints, assembly instructions, drawings, JSA’s, and bills of material.
  • Accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, and calipers.
  • Use various hand tools, pneumatic and electric powered grinders, and impact wrenches.
  • Perform single and multi-pass welds in all positions.
  • Conduct preventative and basic maintenance of weld machines and equipment.
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years' experience in welding and pipe fitting.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical School preferred.
  • Mastery of various welds such as pipe weld, GMAW, SMAW, etc.
  • Certification to a recognized welding standard such as AWS D1.1.
