Overview

The Grounds Person is responsible for safely directing crane operations during the lifting, moving, and placement of precast panels at Wells. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and effective communication in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Signal the crane operator during panel lifting and placement.
  • Use rigging devices for the transportation, storage, and shipping of precast panels.
  • Hook and unhook lifting cables, ring clutches, and spreader bars.
  • Guide the cranes and maintain constant communication with the crane operator via two-way radio.
  • Place dunnage used to store panels in racks or trailers for shipping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and have effective communication skills.
  • Must always remain alert to surroundings.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to climb ladders, man-lifts, and scaffolding and work from heights.

Additional Information

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours.
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently.
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather.
