The Welder/Fitter C position involves using Flux Cored Arc Welding to assemble pole components and requires attention to detail, safety knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and display ownership for work.
  • Adapt to changes and resolve ambiguities in tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement activities in process efficiencies.
  • Follow general safety guidelines and quality expectations.
  • Assemble pole components using Flux Cored Arc Welding.
  • Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
  • Measure distances and angles using various tools.
  • Cut steel using plasma and oxy-fuel torches.
  • Use motorized tools to assist in assembly according to specifications.
  • Adjust welding machines to achieve desired results.
  • Perform visual inspections and identify material discrepancies.
  • Produce full-penetration welds as defined by American Welding Society code.
  • Load finished poles using an overhead crane.
  • Assist and instruct other welders and fitters as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic shop mathematics including addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications.
  • Ability to use a weld gauge.
  • Must be able to stand for the entire shift and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have adequate dexterity and stamina for physical activities.
