Overview

The Civil Structural Designer is responsible for ensuring design compliance with client specifications and codes, developing civil/structural models, and performing field-related work. The role requires collaboration with other disciplines and adherence to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure design compliance with respective client/company specifications and codes, including safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Develop civil/structural 3D models and 2D extractions under minimal supervision utilizing AutoCAD and CADWorx.
  • Reflect all information required for material purchase, fabrication, and construction on finished drawings.
  • Perform field-related work collecting design information and verifying designs for tie-ins, function, and clearances to existing facilities.
  • Provide engineering support during construction as assigned.
  • Check and back check drawings produced by drafting personnel.
  • Interact with designers and engineers in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages.
  • Work with clients to resolve problems.
  • Follow company policy as outlined in the H+M Employee Handbook and Safety Manual.
  • Identify and recommend work process improvements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of AutoCAD and/or CADWorx experience in heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience utilizing 3D laser scans (Leica Jetstream) as a modeling and design tool.
  • Able to perform job walks to define civil structural scope of work for projects with minimal supervision.
  • Good understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices.
  • Basic knowledge of the technical responsibilities of other disciplines associated with drafting, design, and 3D modeling.
  • Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge/comprehension is a must.
  • Experience with AISC steel detailing, ACI, and Process Industry Practices (PIP).
  • Knowledgeable and experienced using Bluebeam to check and redline drawings.
