Overview

Trident Seafoods is North America’s largest vertically integrated seafood company, committed to responsibly harvesting and processing wild Alaska seafood. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various machinery and equipment in a values-driven culture that emphasizes safety, sustainability, and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary.
  • Repairs electrical equipment with motors.
  • Follows plant food safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Production Maintenance.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, conveyors, and bagging machines.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Basic electrical and automation controls.
  • 3-5 years experience in production maintenance.
  • Basic PLC input/output troubleshooting experience.
  • Basic VFD programming experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to problem solve and troubleshoot diverse breakdowns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in various software programs such as Microsoft applications and experience with a CMMS program.
  • Ability to operate a variety of hand tools including welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
